WWE: The Good, The Bad and The NXT

The final WWE dual brand pay-per-view is in the rear-view mirror so SmackDown Live switches its focus to Clash of Champions and Raw awaits next year's Royal Rumble.

The stars of NXT and WWE's main roster lit up Houston last weekend for two nights of hard-hitting entertainment as the developmental brand stole the show.

It seems this week was the best of the year for superstars to stand up and be counted.

Good Week

Roman Reigns (Raw)

Roman Reigns led The Shield to victory at Survivor Series where the dominant duo proved that they were the best stable in WWE when they defeated The New Day with a top-rope triple powerbomb.

The following night on Raw, Reigns challenged Miz for his Intercontinental Championship and managed to win the title - for the first time - in Raw's main event.

Roman becomes the second member of The Shield to become a Grand Slam Champion when he lifted the Intercontinental title but his teammate Dean Ambrose still holds the record of being the youngest Grand Slam Champion in history.

Kevin Owens And Sami Zayn (SmackDown Live)

Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn definitely made their presence felt at Survivor Series this past weekend when they attacked their own team in the Traditional Elimination match and managed to turn the entire brand against them.

It looked as though the unpopular duo were about to be fired from SmackDown before Daniel Bryan stepped in and set up a lumberjack match.

Owens and Zayn were able to defeat The New Day as part of the match before Daniel revealed that they were never getting fired because he had set up a match with Randy Orton for next week.

After the comments that Orton has been making on social media about Owens over the past few weeks, the former Universal Champion will definitely be eager to get his hands on The Viper.

Aleister Black had a fantastic match with Velveteen Dream

Aleister Black (NXT)

Aleister Black took on Velveteen Dream at NXT Takeover: War Games on Saturday night in a sure-fire match of the year candidate. The two men stole the show and the entire weekend in Houston before Black came out on top when he hit his Black Mass spinning heel kick.

Black kept hold of his undefeated streak by picking up the win over his long-time rival, but it seems that the WWE Universe were definitely the real winners here when they were able to witness this instant classic.

Bad Week

Finn Balor (Raw)

Finn Balor was one of the first men eliminated in the main event match at Survivor Series before he was defeated by Samoa Joe via submission on Monday night.

Samoa Joe and Finn Balor resumed their hard-hitting feud

Finn is a former NXT Champion and was the inaugural Universal Champion but it was reported this week that Vince McMahon has lost faith in Finn over the past few months because of his injuries.

It was also reported that Finn had been taken out of his match against Brock Lesnar that was rumoured to be happening at the Royal Rumble for the same reason, which now begs the question of where Finn goes from here, since he has already lost to Samoa Joe and it doesn't seem as though he will be able to defeat the former NXT Champion anytime soon.

Charlotte Flair (SmackDown Live)

Charlotte Flair was one of a number of women who were attacked by the debuting women from NXT on both Raw and SmackDown this past week, and it seems that the trio of Ruby Riot, Liv Morgan and Sarah Logan wanted to send a message to the locker room by going after the champion.

Naomi and Becky Lynch were taken out backstage before the three women invaded the SmackDown Women's Championship match between Natalya and Charlotte Flair.

After Nattie was taken out of the equation, the women turned their attention to Flair and even though the champion tried to fight back, the invaders were able to make an example of The Queen and sent a message to the entire main roster Women's Division.

Drew McIntyre is now the No.1 contender for the NXT Championship.

Drew Mcintyre (NXT)

Drew McIntyre put his NXT Championship on the line at NXT Takeover: War Games against Andrade Almas, knowing that Zelina Vega could be the difference between him retaining or losing his Championship.

Vega did get involved in the match, but on the night it seems that Almas was the better man and was able to dethrone the Scottish Superstar.

McIntyre was also injured in the final seconds of the match, which has reportedly delayed his proposed promotion to the main roster as well. It seems that the bad news keeps on coming for the former NXT Champion.
