Jeremy Scott is looking forward to the future with Melodic Rendezvous following his excellent run in the Champion Bumper at Punchestown.
The six-year-old was taking a big step up in class to Grade One level following an impressive performance at Chepstow and he rewarded trainer Jeremy Scott's faith by finishing second to Champagne Fever, winner of the Champion Bumper at Cheltenham last month.
Scott has already schooled his charge and is looking forward to a novice hurdle campaign next season.
"It was a great run. Perhaps he was slightly flattered to finish so close as the jockey (Jamie Codd) was really positive on him and nothing much was coming from behind, but we were delighted and he's an exciting horse ," said Scott.
"When we ran him in his bumper at Chepstow we were pretty confident as we knew he was head and shoulders above anything we'd run in a bumper before.
"He'll have a break now and hopefully he can confirm that promise when he goes jumping next season.
"We did actually have him teed up to run in a point-to-point, but then he changed hands and we decided to run him under Rules instead.
"He jumps well and I think he'll probably be stepping up in distance, as you'd think two miles over hurdles will be plenty sharp enough for him.
"I think he really wants good ground, or just on the easy side."
