Verdict
Zaham, Duncan and Charlie Farnsbarns are the shortlisted trio in this classy opener, with ZAHAM fancied to collect . Only once out of the frame in 12 starts, Zaham has won at this level but has not been seen since finishing runner-up at Newbury a year ago in the Group 3 John Porter stakes. He has been recovering from a fracture, but his trainer is adept at preparing his runners well after an absence and has an excellent record at the track, while Zaham himself has also won here. Pontefract maiden winner Duncan left that form behind when landing an Epsom handicap in impressive fashion on his re-appearance, and this four-year-old looks to have progressed from last year. He has been found out at this level previously, but looks a different type altogether now. Charlie Farnsbarns picked up a shock Group 3 win in November and carries a 6lb penalty for that success here. His efforts so far this season have been workmanlike, and he is trying a trip three furlongs further than he has won over previously. Zaham is taken to make a winning return to action.
