In depth
Verdict
King Orchisios has done little wrong of late and Kevin Ryan's colt will ensure that this is run at a furious pace but a 6lb rise for his latest narrow success at Haydock leaves the son of Tagula with more to do and preference is for Grantley Adams, who gets the vote ahead of Sweet Afton. The selection has shown progressive form this season, latterly only being beaten half-a-length by Charles Darwin over course and distance. Set to go up 2lbs in future handicaps, Mick Channon's gelding looks worth a bet to go one better. Ingleby Arch is strictly held by the selection on Newmarket running and more of a threat may come from Sweet Afton who, like the selection, is set for a rise in future weights after a decent effort in a Listed race last time. Conditions race form and handicap form does not always work out though so he may be one to avoid. The Terry Mills-trained Didn't We is entitled to be thereabouts but may be booked for a place at best, while Angus Newz faces no easy task giving weight away all round. Grantley Adams is still on the upgrade though and he gets the vote.
