Verdict

Fury, fifth in the 2000 Guineas, only went down by a head to Tazahum over a mile at Sandown next time. Already proven on a softer surface, William Haggas' colt should appreciate the drop to 7f and is a serious contender here. Strong Suit is attempting to redeem his reputation having finished last on his reappearance in the Greenham but faces a stiff task under top weight while Codemaster has more to do than when landing a Listed contest at Newmarket, though has the beating of Utley on that run and is another who'll be at home on the ground. Oracle may have been flattered by his third in the Irish 2000 Guineas and looks held by a couple of these on last year's form while the French 2000 Guineas form has taken a few knocks recently so the claims of Havane Smoker, second at Longchamp, should also be treated with caution. Unbeaten WESTERN ARISTOCRAT has only won a maiden and a handicap but overcame trouble in running to score at Haydock last month under a big weight and is progressing at a rate of knots - he could be the value in this opener.
