    Verdict

A few sprinters have won this on a couple of occasions but none have won it three times so SOLE POWER will be making history if successful today. Richard Hughes has struck up a good understanding with Eddie Lynam's stable star and was at his brilliant best when producing his mount to land this 12 months ago ahead of Stepper Point and a host of today's rivals. He also timed his run to perfection when the eight-year-old won the Al Quoz Sprint at Meydan in March and the reigning champion is readily forgiven his comeback run over 6f at the Curragh, where the ground was too soft. Pearl Secret was only 10th last year and behind Hot Streak, Medicean Man, Steps, Jack Dexter and Take Cover but that wasn't his true running. David Barron's entire got back to winning ways in the Temple Stakes at Haydock last month and rates a threat. Mecca's Angel is a fast-improving sprinter while another mare, Shamal Wind, is a champion in Australia but arrives here out of season. French raider Rangali was only beaten a head in last year's Prix De L'Abbaye at Longchamp but was a long way behind Muthmir and Spirit Quartz in a Group 2 at Chantilly on his reappearance - William Haggas' charge shouldn't be far away here.
