Verdict

Aidan O'Brien won this 12 months ago with Statue Of Liberty and this year relies upon dual winner Newton and while he, and Botanical from the powerful David Loder stable, have to be respected we prefer to side with impressive Ripon winner Sabbeeh. While the son of Red Ransom may not have beaten a great deal on his debut, there was no doubting the quality of the performance, in making all and drawing clear from two furlongs out, beating his nearest rival by 13 lengths. Admittedly that was on a soft surface and ground conditions will be completely different but being out of a Diesis mare that should not be a problem and the Michael Jarvis-trained colt is taken to follow up. Newton, who is bred along similar lines to the stable's star miler of last season Rock Of Gibraltar has won his last two starts at Fairyhouse and The Curragh and has experience on his side. Botanical looked very green when making a winning debut at York and should come on a bundle for it, while Three Valleys has also only raced once previously and is another open to considerable improvement. A similar comment applies to the American raiders Kate Winslet and Parisienne. Brocklesby winner Red Power is worthy of a mention but is not certain to appreciate the step up from the minimum.
