Elevated to Group 1 status this year, the Queen Anne Stakes looks there for the taking by Hawk Wing, who is difficult to oppose and should be too good for Dubai Destination, Desert Deer and Where Or When. The last mentioned was left trailing in the wake of the selection in Newbury's Juddmonte Lockinge Stakes last time and, although connections fell they have claims of reversing the form, it is hard to see the Terry Mills-trained colt turning an 11-length defeat into a victory. Desert Deer failed to go into the starting stalls at Newbury and it is to be hoped that he is not in the same mood today, as he looked a progressive performer when winning at Sandown previously. Godolphin have a good record in this event over the years and have two representatives here, Blatant and Dubai Destination, with the latter, a cosy winner at Nottingham last time, looking their number one. Sir Michael Stoute is another trainer to have faired well in this contest in the past and he relies upon The Queen's recent Windsor winner Right Approach. While a royal winner would be greeted enthusiastically, it will be a surprise if Hawk Wing does not supplement his impressive Newbury success and claim a second Group 1 success of the season.
