Verdict
Doyen can cap a great week for Godolphin although Gamut and High Accolade provide stern opposition. Frankie Dettori reportedly called him the "New Swain" upon his acquirement for Godolphin and there was a lot to like about his second to Warrsan in the Coronation Cup. Now matchfit and with the Godolphin camp hitting a peak of form, he will be a very tough nut to crack. Gamut is as tough as they come and the Derby winning partnership of Stoute and Fallon. He beat the aforementioned Warrsan at Newmarket but will have to confirm form with Systematic having beaten him 1.25 lengths at headquarters but at three pounds worse terms. High Accolade is a previous course-and-distance winner having taken the King Edward VII stakes at the meeting last year. This race has been the stated aim all year and Marcus Tregoning will have him ready for the task. Persian Majesty is the unexposed runner in the party who could be anything. Third to Papineau at Goodwood; he should reverse form with Songlark at these terms. Chancellor has to bounce back from a very poor effort at Sandown in the Brigadier Gerard Stakes. Musanid steps into unchartered territory in terms of trip. Doyen can confirm his arrival into the big league by landing the Hardwicke Stakes.
