Crackentorp is less exposed than most of these after just four starts so far and he has to be respected following an encouraging reappearance run behind Red Merlin at Goodwood last month but preference is for DRILL SERGEANT, who gets the verdict ahead of Hatton Flight. Andrew Balding's gelding has won his last three starts in handicaps at Lingfield, Epsom and Newmarket but a 5lb rise for the latest of those successes makes this more difficult. A market move for Siberian Tiger would be of interest, while Dansili Dancer has more to do than when successful at Doncaster last time. Strategic Mount is more than capable but is probably a shade high in the weights at present and of more interest may be Brian Meehan's Inventor who looks to be going the right way. Mark Johnston's Record Breaker was good value for his win at Hamilton last week but a 10lb rise for that looks harsh and preference is for stable companion Drill Sergeant. The son of Rock Of Gibraltar would not be winning out of turn having been placed in his last four starts and surprisingly the handicapper has not been too hard on the four-year-old so he is taken to resume winning ways.
