Verdict

The usual cavalry charge but HAWKEYETHENOO could not have been more impressive over C&D in the Victoria Cup and it will be little surprise if he graduates to earning black type later this season. That success was his first attempt at 7f since his racecourse debut back in 2008 but it really does suit his ability to travel well in large-field handicaps and deliver a sweet turn of foot. Obviously he has it to do under topweight but is just preferred to The Confessor, who makes appeal nearer the foot of the weights. He landed a fine hat-trick last year and a recent sortie to Ireland suggested this is his trip. He's open to further progress too. Manassas and Excellent Guest were one and two here at the Royal meeting and enjoy these events, whilst Brae Hill, back to form last time when beating the latter, takes the eye with Ryan Moore booked by Richard Fahey.
