Verdict
SHAMANDAR will be no price but she should be capable of taking this event with Theladyinquestion and Dubawi Heights the most likely to be fighting over the forecast slot. Despite the big fields, it is not uncommon for the better BHA rated horses to win this and as Pennys Gift did for Richard Hannon last term, Shamandar can oblige for William Haggas. She isn't without her quirks as her run in the St Hugh Stakes suggests, but back to her best behaviour at Salisbury in the Dick Poole Stakes, she sets a standard that the others should struggle to get near. Theladyinquestion has always been held in some regard at the Andrew Balding yard; she is arguably some way better than the Salisbury Auction Stakes she won. Dubawi Heights was third in the Group 2 Lowther Stakes. She remains a maiden though won't be for too much longer on that evidence. Nottingham maiden winner, Dannys Choice, was tried in Group company in France. She is not short of early pace. Fardiyeh is bred for further than this six furlongs though she was in command at Kempton earlier in the month when scoring on the polytrack. Richard Hannon has his usual battalion in these events and while Cultured Pride has the best official rating, she was beaten in a Goodwood handicap. He also saddles Magic Lantern, who drops down to this trip having campaigned over further. Jozafeen is likely to be priced among the no hopers but Robin Bastiman thinks plenty of this filly and she could be capable of considerable improvement versus what she has shown on the racecourse. She's Ok has demonstrated her better form in big fields and she will be partnered by rising Japanese star, Kozei Miura. Shamandar is impossible to get away from and we seek not to oppose.
