      Verdict

A difficult start to the day's proceedings for backers with plenty of the 16 runners holding claims including Scarlett Breeze, Kamanda Laugh and Vonadaisy but narrow preference is for Spring Goddess, who is taken to make a winning debut. The Alan Jarvis-trained filly is a half-sister by Daggers Drawn to Eastborough and would not need to be out of the ordinary to win this. Peter Makin is capable of producing a two-year-old to win first time out so a market mover for Caracal, a son of Desert Style, would be of interest as would support for Ralph Beckett's Hatch A Plan. Of those with experience, Scarlett Breeze has shown signs of ability in both starts to date and may improve for the step up from the minimum trip, while Kamanda Laugh showed up well in a better race than this at Newmarket on his debut. However, the son of Most Welcome may have been flattered by that and is probably best watched here. Vonadaisy, from the stable of Willie Haggas, is another to consider having showed improved form on her second start but we prefer to side with the newcomer Spring Goddess for who the booking of Kieren Fallon could be significant.
