      Verdict

      Fillies handicaps at this time of year are always tricky races to be getting involved with and this tight-knit affair is no exception. And the unexposed Rossiya is selected as a hopeful choice to make the most of a fair opportunity to shine at the weights.The consistent Weecando along with Statergy and Rani Two are expected to make life hard for the selection though and there is unlikely to be much in it at the finish. However, Rossiya benefited greatly from a positive ride to get off the mark at Sandown earlier in the month and finished with a flourish to suggest that the step up in trip should be a natural progression for the daughter of Machiavellian. She also hails from a yard whose runners have been acquitting themselves with plenty of credit on the racecourse and the hint should be taken if she is supported before the race. Statergy is obviously not a leading light in the current Stoute string but is capable of figuring strongly at this level. But like Weecando, she is vulnerable to a less exposed type like Rossiya on these terms.
