      Verdict

      A disappointing turnout for this Class B affair looks like developing into a match between two of the five runners, namely Mahroos and Football Crazy. The latter enjoyed a purple patch this summer, progressing from a claiming success to three further victories in handicap company. Neville Callaghan's gelding has taken on good company since and was not disgraced in Ireland last time. The ground appeared a bit fast for him then though, and with similar conditions expected here, he will have to battle hard to stop TEAMtalk selection Mahroos completing a hat-trick. The son of Kingmambo was second on his only start in France as a juvenile two years ago, and has obviously lost none of his ability, having won both starts for John Gosden this season, at Newmarket and Epsom. He has always been highly thought of but a tendency to get nervous in the stalls has hindered his progress. That has been ironed out by problem horse expert Stephen Dyble, and with plenty of mileage in the tank, this Classified Stakes race should be well within his compass before a crack at Listed company. Without being unkind to the remaining trio, they simply do not look good enough.
