NonRunner

In depth

Verdict

The globe-trotting Prince Of Arran is having a first run in this country since well beaten in last year’s Gold Cup behind STRADIVARIUS and Nayef Road. The Gosdens’ brilliant stayer wasn’t at his best on heavy and soft ground in the autumn but had earlier looked as good as ever in winning here and at Goodwood and he has made a winning reappearance in three of the last four years. Mark Johnston’s runner has won twice at this level but he consistently gets a rear view of the selection in the top staying races. Stag Horn and Ocean Wind were progressive stayers last year and the latter has had a couple of outings this season but both require a further step forward to be successful in this grade.
