Verdict
Via Dolorosa was travelling with purpose when hampered and unseating his rider in the Becher Chase at Aintree in December and may have been feeling the effects when pulled up in the Sussex National at Plumpton the following month. He is firmly back on track and merits close inspection here. Last month’s Eider Chase at Newcastle provides several clues with Win My Wings coming out on top and Innisfree Lad and Court Master third and fourth respectively. The winner’s trainer also saddles February’s Kempton runner-up Kitty's Light, who stays well, but last year’s fifth COOL MIX could offer greater value. The grey has been brought along quietly this term by Iain Jardine and is 6lb lower than 12 months ago with Alan Doyle taking off a further 7lb. The Ferry Master was fourth last year and also has a chance in first-time blinkers and Ask A Honey Bee could go well at a price. Jersey Bean and Ashtown Lad are others to consider and Stormy Judge was in good form around this time last year. Fantastikas looks the pick of the remainder.
