Verdict
Strong Resolve had little chance behind the well-handicapped Colourful Life at Bangor last month and is taken to gain compensation at the main expense of The Merry Mason and Family Venture. The last mentioned won on his reappearance last term so lack of a recent outing may not be a problem for Ferdy Murphy's gelding though a mark of 109 may be enough to stop him. Jim Goldie's Double You Cubed is 6lbs higher than when winning at Perth when last seen in May and is another to consider, if fit enough for his return. To The Future faces no easy task on his first start for 558 days and of more interest may be Boy's Hurrah. Howard Johnson has his string in good form at present and the son of Phardante is entitled to strip fitter for his recent reappearance at Market Rasen. The Merry Mason has been well placed by trainer Sue Smith but this looks tougher than the race that he won at Wetherby last week and preference is for Strong Resolve. Lucinda Russell has had a good season so far and, as we have said, the son of Roselier lost no caste in defeat behind Colourful Life last time. Off the same mark, he has an obvious chance and is taken to go one better today.
