Verdict
Quicuyo holds Greenbelt on their run behind Jim Goldie's Frank Crow and despite his welter wight, Peter Montieth's charge gets the vote to return to winning ways today. The selection was run off his feet last time out at Kelso in a decent Grade Two. He will be more at home on this softer surface and now facing easier opposition, he can defy his big weight with the aid of his jockey's 10lb claim. Greenbelt has 12 lengths to find on the selection and with no turn around in the weights he will find it harder to bridge the gap, although he is still unexposed. Moonhawk won on his racecourse debut at Carlisle and was then outclassed in the Tolworth Hurdle at Sandown. Easier company will see him in a better light today. Carrick Dhu is consistent but tends to find at least one too good, whilst Ergo and Francesco were nothing special on the flat but may find improvement for the jumping of obstacles. A tight opener, in which Quicuyo gets the vote.
