In depth

Verdict

Ever Present, Freetown and Inch High all have solid claims for the older brigade, however preference is for recent winner Tartan Snow. The selection comes here on the back of a ready success at Kelso for Graham Lee and has subsequently gone up in the weights by 6lb. Today's jockey's claim negates that rise somewhat and with further improvement to come, he can win again. Freetown would have carried these in his younger years but at present he has shown signs of old age, whilst Ever Present must be of interest now back over hurdles and able to race off a significantly lower mark. Storymaker ran well in defeat but has the habit of putting in the odd shocker, whilst Inch High is a course winner and needs respect although he looks high enough in the weights at present. Heraldry was a ready winner two starts back but then pulled up on his recent reappearance after a lengthy absence. He is better than that effort however we like Tartan Snow.
