In depth
Verdict
Colophony won nicely enough at Huntingdon last time but faces no easy task off an 8lb higher mark today and preference is for another last time out winner Morgan Be, who gets the vote ahead of Aberdare. The selection has escaped a penalty for a fluent success in a novice hurdle here in January and looks to be well treated for his debut in a handicap. Tobesure has held his form well in two starts since winning at Kelso in October but could probably do with some help from the handicapper, while Caesar's Palace was very disappointing last time. Lutin du Moulin has failed to complete in his last two starts and is probably best watched in a race where a bigger threat is likely to come from Aberdare, who has also failed to complete in his last two starts but had shown decent form prior to that and he could be of interest. Morgan Be looks to hold solid claims on his debut in this grade though and he gets the vote.
