In depth

Verdict

There should be more to come from Hereux, who is selected in preference to Frank Crow and Sienna Storm. The last named got off the mark in good style at Haydock last month; putting in a much improved display on similar ground to what he will encounter this afternoon. Saleem Golam is excellent value for his 5lb claim and it will be no surprise to see him make a bold bid for his Newmarket-based boss. A mile obviously suits this son of Peintre Celebre and he is worth monitoring in the betting. The same comments apply to Frank Crow, who has improved with each run so far. His trainer describes him as a 'lazy horse' and Tom Eaves will have to get after him to make sure that he gets the trip. However, he has done very little wrong so far and cannot confidently be ruled out. However, Hereux created the impression that he is ready for a crack at this distance when forcing his head in front in a maiden at York when he was last seen out. The Stravinsky colt has been given a sensible time off since his Knavesmire victory and is expected to be firing on all cylinders for this return to the fray.
