In depth
Verdict
HIGH STAND LAD looks the clear pick of Martin Todhunter's two runners in the concluding event on the card and gets the vote to go one better racing off just a 3lb higher mark than when narrowly beaten by Grandad Bill at Newcastle last month with the main danger rated as Hey Charlie. The Nicky Richards-trained gelding ran much better in a novices' hurdle at Kelso last time and he looks reasonably well treated off a mark of just 109 following that effort. James Moffatt's Quatro Pierji is capable but may just be a shade high in the weights at present and of more interest may be Sue Smith's Bamby, who reverts to hurdles having been running well over fences of late. Jim Goldie's Baaher has disappointed of late on the flat and back over hurdles last time, while Lucinda Russell's Jewelled Dagger may do better now running in handicaps but he does need to improve on previous hurdles form. James Ewart's Sirkeel should appreciate the drop in trip today and has to be considered but more solid claims are held by High Stand Lad, who can resume winning ways.
