In depth

Verdict

Anglo Saxon and Opening Ceremony are the two to catch the eye here with Kid 'Z' Play the other for the shortlist, and the nomination is given to the David Loder-trained colt Anglo Saxon. The selection ran his best race for some time when a staying-on third behind Ski Jump at Chepstow. He looked as though he was worth getting on the right side of that day and he should be capable of a big run here with conditions to suit. Opening Ceremony may have needed the run when finishing down the field on his seasonal reappearance at Ripon. But he would have a great chance here on the pick of his form and now that his yard are beginning to move up through the gears he has to be respected. Kid 'Z' Play is a consistent sort and he goes especially well at this track, so he looks to be the best of the remainder. However, this looks a straight match-up between Opening Ceremony and Anglo Saxon and the nomination is given to the latter.
