Verdict

A competitive affair in which MIDDLEMARCH is our idea of the most likely winner though Lucayan Dancer and Rossini's Dancer are worthy of inclusion on our shortlist. The switch up to this trip appeared to work the oracle for Jim Goldie's veteran at York and if lightening can strike twice, this once useful handicapper is more than capable of posting a follow up. Lucayan Dancer has it to do on the figures. He is 4lb better in with Tufton versus their Redcar meeting and has gone on to place again since. Rossini's Dancer won a seller under Paul Hanagan at Ripon. The fact that the rider elects to stick with him this afternoon leads us to believe that he is first string this afternoon. Applaude allows himself to get worried out of things in a finish though on some of his form at Alan Swinbank's, he may be sent off at odds that are too big. King Of The Moors has more to do in this company than he did when successful at Musselburgh. Jim Martin won this race at odds of 80/1 last year. He is unlikely to be available at those odds today and was well held at Hamilton on his most recent start. Spring Goddess won a fillies' handicap at Doncaster at the start of the turf season though has lost her way badly since. My Mate Mal has it to do on figures and would probably want it much softer underfoot. Having considered the alternatives, Middlemarch is our selection.
