Verdict
Woodman colts tend to be fairly resilient creatures and we will tip Woody Valentine to land the spoils ahead of Florida Heart, Saida Lenasera and Little Jimbob. Mick Channon's in-form team are represented by Saida Lenasera. There is plenty of stamina in her pedigree and while her first run over the trip was a disappointment, it is worth remembering that she was giving plenty of weight away to her opposition. Florida Heart is still a maiden but her placed form does include two seconds at York. She doesn't look the hardiest of characters in the battle and may well need everything to fall right for her before we see her in the winners' enclosure. Little Jimbob was clear of the remainder when finishing second in a recent fast ground nursery at Musselburgh. He may well go up for that run so connections are obviously keen to try their look off the same mark. Red Romeo may have been flattered by his beating of Brunel at Newcastle. The second has gone on to score impressively since but there is every chance he didn't produce his best at Gosforth Park. Poppy's Footprint ran a big race off an unfavourable draw at Doncaster's big sales race but the burden of top-weight does dampen enthusiasm. In an open contest we will stick with Woody Valentine to take the race.
