Verdict

Tut won well on his first start for Alan Jarvis when landing an auction maiden here last month on soft ground and she has to be respected first time in a nursery on ground that suits but she seems a shade high in the weights and a better bet may be another runner racing in this grade for the first time, Richard Fahey's OUR JOE MAC, who gets the vote ahead of stable companion Aquarian Spirit. The last mentioned has run well in nurseries in his last two starts on faster ground that he faces today but the softer ground should not be a problem for a colt that won his maiden on a similar surface. The William Haggas-trained Centigrade ran on well when winning his Warwick maiden last month and should appreciate the extra furlong so he cannot be discounted. Brian Meehan's Butch And Sundance was well held in a valuable sales race at York last time and looks best watched, while Andrew Balding's Flaming Miracle has harshly gone up 5lbs after a decent second at Windsor last time. John Dunlop's Blakey's Boy takes a drop in class having run third in a Listed race at Newbury on his most recent start and has to be considered along with Alrasm, who is similarly dropped in grade. Preference though is for Richard Fahey's Our Joe Mac, who stepped up from a promising debut outing when running out the easy winner of a Thirsk median auction maiden last month. He looks well treated for his debut in a nursery and can make a winning start in this grade on ground that should suit the son of Celtic Swing.
