In depth

Verdict

River Thames, Deserted Dane and Curtail make most appeal in this handicap and we will give another chance to Deserted Dane. The selection has had a couple of runs so far this season and he should now be spot-on for this. He travelled well for much of his race at Thirsk last time and he may have just blown up in the closing stages, so he could be a good bet to gain his compensation here. River Thames missed the break at Thirsk last time so it was a good effort to dead-heat for third in a race won by Stolt. However, he has done all his winning over 6f and he may find this trip a little on the sharp side. Curtail is a course and distance winner and he should come on for his seasonal reappearance when he chased home Orpside boy at Wolverhampton. He is worth consideration, along with The Nifty Fox who wasn't disgraced last time out and there have been a few signs in recent days that the yard are beginning to fire. A good race this which can go the way of Alan Swinbank's Deserted Dane.
