      Verdict

Winning point-to-pointer TAKINGRISKS has been steadily improving over hurdles and though very fortunate to land a Kelso maiden when Flemensfirthleader fell at the last when clear, the latter made amends with an easy victory next time so the form looks strong. Octagon was brought down when travelling nicely at Carlisle and was made favourite to gain compensation at Haydock but didn't run as well as expected. Tap Night won a similar class handicap at Musselburgh in December and his two subsequent starts have been at a higher level. Oscar Blue won a bumper and two races over timber last year and finished runner-up at this level at Haydock in December while Calvigny completed a double on the track in the autumn and his two subsequent runs have been in a higher grade than this.
