In depth

Verdict

This looks competitive enough on paper but it seems best to focus on some in-form types. The much-improved Counteract is one but Suzy Smith's gelding is stepping up into unknown territory having not previously won over further than 2m4f. He receives no penalty for his most recent success, however, and has a major chance if staying the extra half-mile. Sartene's Son won here very comfortably in January but that was on heavy ground and he will need to prove he's equally effective on this surface. Evenstevens and His Dream are respected but CATLIN (NAP) came home strongly to score over an extended 2m7f at Newcastle last month and looks a much-improved performer since having his attentions turned to fences by a yard enjoying their best season to date.
