In depth
Verdict
Carapuce can complete a hat-trick at the expense of in-form Petite Margo and Chicuelo who is given a run out over hurdles but has topweight. Carapuce has been in good form, landing back-to-back successes at Ayr and Hexham, although Len Lungo is not happy with the handicapper for raising him nearly a stone after his latest effort. So, there will be a ready made excuse if the ex-French gelding fails, but we reckon that there is more to come and so he gets the vote. Petite Margot has been well placed by her in-form trainer to win four on the bounce, but this is a bit of a hike up in class. Chicuelo is better known for his chasing exploits but is rated much lower over timber. His win over the smaller obstacles at Market Rasen in July was his first in that sphere since April 2001 though, so he cannot be considered a good thing by any means. Any money for Campaign Trail could be significant, while the reappearing Home James comes from a stable in good form at present. For the winner we return to Carapuce to defy the handicapper.
