Verdict
Kimbambo, Bacyan and My Last Bean look the main protagonists in a competitive opener but the 5-year-old Kimbambo, who was so impressive on his hurdling debut, gets the vote. The selection defeated the game and consistent Michaels Dream in good style and under similar conditions he is taken to defy his penalty. Bacyan was a fair sort in the point-to-point sphere and made an encouraging start to his career under Rules when winning a bumper. He was disappointing on his hurdling bow over 3m but the drop in trip could well suit this imposing gelding. My Last Bean has won at up to 12 furlongs on the flat and made an encouraging hurdling debut in an above average race at Haydock when fourth behind Travelling Band. He is sure to have improved and is another that could go well. Of the rest, Minstrel Hall is from a shrewd yard and is respected, but we are happy to side with the progressive Kimbambo.
