In depth

Verdict

A wide open bumper rounds off the card and as usual in these events the market will be all important and the principals look to be Peters Star, Asturion and Marbury Boy and the narrow vote is given to Peters Star. The selection was a fair third on his debut behind Checkerboard, looks sure to have learnt from the experience, and under similar conditions here he looks the one to be on. Asturion rates the main danger on his latest second behind Ripalong Lad but that form has since been let down and he is taken on with this in mind. Marbury Boy is another that could go well on his debut fifth behind Pharanto but he gave the impression he would be suited by a longer trip on that occasion and is taken on with this in mind. Of the remainder Don Fredrico is from a shrewd in form yard and should be watched in the market but in a race that throws up more questions than answers for the winner we return to Peters Star.
