In depth
Verdict
A chance is taken that Paddy The Optomist has a little more to offer after winning two of his last three starts and he gets the nod over the likes of Montreal and Commanche Hero, who have been slightly frustrating horses to follow in the past. The same also has to be said of Lorenzino and Three Eagles, who have both wasted as many chances as they have taken and are hard to enthuse about with anything more than tepid confidence. Therefore, Paddy The Optomist, who won off an 11lb lower mark in a classified chase last time, may hold the key to this if he can take the switch back to handicap company in his stride. The selection does receive plenty of weight from the majority of his rivals and has plenty in his favour to make a bold bid over a trip that ideally suits. Montreal Bounced back to form last time and is still very well treated on the best of his form. However, it is a long time since he has run two races the same and is only worth a saver if the betting indicates that his connections think the ground will be too fast for Paddy The Optimist to run up to his best.
