Verdict

It is hard to find a horse that was not beaten out of sight in its last start so only a tentative vote goes the way of Dardanus, whose reappearance form was, quite simply, not as bad as that of the latest efforts put in by Brady Boys, The Pennys Dropped and Pink Harbour, who have all been highly disappointing lately. The same has to be said of Hanbrin Rose, who has never really looked like coming close to losing her maiden tag and she is not hard to overlook today. Therefore, we return to Dardanus for the likeliest winner as he dropped several hints that there are races to be won with him before an obvious training set-back restricted his campaign last year. The son of Komaite ran as well as could be expected when finishing down the field behind Ballyvaddy after a 361-day absence and he can be expected to be a different proposition now that he has a run behind him this season.
