Rain Stops Play may provide a topically named winner of this handicap with Monda and Willow Dancer amongst others to consider. The selection was a shade disappointing at Newmarket last time but that came on ground quicker than ideal in a race more competitive than this. He ran better than his finishing position suggests on his penultimate start at Pontefract and is worth another chance this afternoon. Mick Quinn's gelding is 20lbs lower than when last successful, has gone well for Christ Catlin before, has his ground and is well drawn to employ his front-running tactics. Master Mahogany, Don Pietro and Bold Cross are considered but of more interest may be Monda who made a pleasing debut for her new yard over ten furlongs here in April. This shorter trip will suit, her yard does well here, she's well handicapped and well worth keeping an eye on. Willow Dancer hasn't got too many miles on the clock and wasn't beaten far at Goodwood last time. He's yet to win a race but he has the ability to do so and his yard are sure to place him to advantage. The market may well prove useful but Rain Stops Play looks sure to give us a big run for our money at a big price.
