Verdict

The well bred BELOW ZERO gets the marginal call in this pretty decent maiden but with a slight concern this trip is on the sharp side we have to pay respect to Spanish Acclaim and Going French. The selection ran a very pleasing debut travelling well to mount a challenge over this trip in the final furlong but couldn't quite quicken up. He'll probably be seen at his very best when tackling seven furlongs but with Mark Johnston's yard sending out one that vastly improved after a good debut to easily score a few days ago he looks the best call. Despite shedding his jockey before the start of his last run Spanish Acclaim still managed to put in a vast improvement on his debut run to grab second late on. That came on similarly fast ground so if he behaves better in the preliminaries he should go even closer. Going French showed some progress from his debut run when placing at Southwell three days ago. He is another who also goes well on this ground so he should be involved. Breeze Of The Air has the pedigree to make an impact over sprint trips as a juvenile so could go well on debut but with the expected improvement we prefer the chances of Below Zero.
