Verdict

RIVER CAPTAIN stepped up on the form he had shown previously in maidens when landing a nursery at Salisbury in August, being by mudlark Captain Rio, the testing ground should not inconvenience Sylvester Kirk's colt and he gets the vote ahead of Penton Hook and Musical Maze. The last mentioned has shown her liking for soft ground, notably when landing a Beverley nursery last time and Mark Brisbourne's filly has to be respected, although she has more to do off a 5lb higher mark today. Bright Enough was good value for her win at Kempton last time but she has disappointed on testing ground before so she looks best watched. Richard Hannon's runners continue in good heart so Arushore is worthy of a mention but he would need to improve on all known form to trouble the judge. Peter Winkworth's Penton Hook has shown a reasonable level of form in all three starts, including on a soft surface, and he could be of interest on his debut in a nursery but River Captain has solid claims and he is preferred.
