    Verdict

A small field but nonetheless an intriguing start to the day, and we take Sir Mark Prescott's Violette to improve sufficiently to win this, with little to choose between the quartet. Violette got off the mark on debut over 6f here the other day, and she looked good enough to run up a sequence at this level. With her trainer running into some form, and notorious for eliciting plenty of improvement, we take her to be good enough. Top weight Hot has taken longer to come to hand, but was better for a sound surface last time, and with confidence gained from that Leicester success, should pose a significant threat. Piccostar should handle the surface without any trouble, though her second in an ordinary Redcar contest last time gives her perhaps the most to do here, while Triskaidekaphobia comes from a yard having winners and performed well enough last time to have claims here, though he too will need to come on a bit. The one for us here though is Violette.
