        Verdict

        Steel An Icon won an amateurs’ race at Catterick during the week but has been raised another 5lb. An earlier victory here might be the key to this contest as Mick Channon’s filly beat Super Superjack a length in that with LADY ELYSIA and Running Cloud unplaced but withing touching distance. Eve Johnson Houghton’s mare never seems to run a bad race here and a subsequent third over 2m at Lingfield suggests she is still firing on all cylinders. The hat-trick seeking Merlin's Beard looks a threat to all as his latest victory at Brighton has been franked while Cogital gets on well with Jordan Williams and should run his race again. Hashtagmetoo, Hidden Depths and Temple Lock are the remaining trio and also have a chance in a wide-open series final
