In depth

Verdict

Grimes Faith has a leading chance in the first race, with Lord Jack Flash and Just Down The Road not out of it. Grimes Faith has shown plenty of pace on all three starts to date and will appreciate the return to this grade after finishing fourth in a conditions event on Lingfield's Polytrack last time. The time before at the Surrey track, Richard Hannon's colt nearly conjured up defeat out of the jaws of victory when hanging very badly. Richard Hughes managed to get him back up to score though, and was at a loss to explain his antics afterwards. The son of Woodborough behaved himself next time though and has the overall form to beat Lord Jack Flash who has to concede five-pounds to the selection. Bill Turner's juvenile finished fourth to subsequent winner Bow Bridge at Thirsk last time but did not stride out very well in the rain-softened ground, and should shape better on this much faster going. Just Down The Road was fourth in a big field here on her debut and she too will improve on this ground, but has it to do against Grimes Faith who can give the Hannon yard another winner here.
