In depth

Verdict

Crimson Flame is the pick over Salvestro, with High Octave, Light Dreams, Katie Lawson and Murrumbidgee just a few more to consider. This is another difficult race for punters to work out, and only a small vote goes to Crimson Flame who receives a bit of weight from his main rivals. Mick Channon will leave no stone unturned until he gets a winning tune out of this three-year-old who continues to give the impression that there is a race to be won with him. The drop to class 6 grade nearly brought about the desired result up at Musselburgh eight days ago, but once again he found one too good, and we are prepared to give him another chance. Salvestro is another that nearly lost his maiden tag when just denied at Brighton, and this type of race is well within his compass as well. High Octave has plenty of weight, as does Light Dreams, but Katie Lawson may improve for the switch to Turf. Murrumbidgee was ridden to victory by today's pilot, Patrick hills, earlier in the season, but he has struggled to cope with even a 6lb rise and cannot be put forward with any confidence. A pin would come in handy, but we shall stay loyal to Crimson Flame.
