        Verdict

        Desert Omen was a bit unfortunate last time and can make amends at the expense of New Wish, Game Flora and Dara Mac to name but three. Anyone who saw Desert Omen lose out at Brighton just two days ago will certainly want to be on this time. Mark Johnston's charge was kicked clear with two furlongs to go but suddenly lost his footing and nearly put Greg Fairley over his head, eventually finishing third behind Homme Dangeroux. Now put into handicap company and with Royston Ffrench taking over in the saddle, he should make a bold bid to make amends. Any support for New Wish should be heeded as he remains well handicapped, but has still to score since opening his account three years ago when with Mick Channon. Game Flora has posted a couple of fair efforts at this level and is closely matched with Dara Mac who has topweight to overcome. As the only three-year-old in the line-up, Desert Omen has a lot more scope than the rest and makes most appeal from that point of view at least.
