Verdict
The final race on the card can go the way of Gimasha, with Herawaat, California Laws and Carnivore the other main players. Gimasha stepped up on her return at Haydock where she was far too keen by finishing fast to take second behind Orpen Wide at Newmarket 15 days ago. Given that the daughter of Cadeaux Genereux is related to quite a few winners over further, it is somewhat surprising that Willie Jarvis does not step her up to six furlongs, but then again, in this company it might no matter. Drawn in stall eight and with Kevin Darley on board, she should be the one to beat. Our confidence is boosted by the fact that she was only beaten a length by Nota Bene at Windsor last October, and the latter went on to score twice this season before running in the Temple Stakes at Sandown. The best of today's opposition appears to be Herawaat who may not have handled the softish ground when only third at Chepstow. This well-related sort can give the selection most to do along with California Laws who can improve on his recent introduction at Doncaster where he missed the break and ran green. Carnivore found only the odds-on Turnaround too good on his Thirsk debut last July but has not been seen since and is sure to need the outing, so by far the safest option is Gimasha.
