In depth
Verdict
This amateurs' event is hardly the ideal 'getting out stakes', but Lazzaz comes here in good heart and has as good a chance as any, with Our Glenard and Border Terrier the likeliest alternatives. Lazzaz seemed to show improved form this winter and spring, winning three times at Wolverhampton, and as he is drooped eight pounds for his return to turf, it may just be worth taking a chance that he can translate that form. Marie King is a competent jockey who has ridden him for the last two of his wins, so that also goes in his favour. Our Glenard scored a belated first win at Lingfield last time, and is fairly treated if able to reproduce that here, while Border Terrier should strip fitter for his second to Analyse in a better race at Newcastle last time. Lightly-raced in recent seasons, the booking of Carol Williams means that he should go well here despite a rise in the weights.
