Verdict

MAIDTORUN can take advantage of a high draw to land this lowly opener, and gets our vote ahead of Reel Credit Crunch and On The Piste. Favourites have a good strike rate at the course, and particularly in the corresponding race, with the favourite winning in four of the last five years. Richard Fahey's filly was disappointing in a higher grade race last time out when trying to follow up her maiden success here over course and distance. That race has worked out well, producing a couple of other winners; trainer and jockey both do well here, and she looks a solid selection. Reel Credit Crunch was claimed by Ian McInnes from David Evans last month, and is the highest rated here. She's yet to get her nose in front, but has run creditably to grab a couple of runners up spots. Out The Ring has yet to be out of the first three in his five outings to date, and cheekpieces previously worn come off today, having seemingly not helped him. Maybe taking them back off will, and he's also well drawn. On The Piste won in a head-bob last time out from Angie's Nap at Yarmouth; rather than put her into handicap company though she's in a claimer; Angie's nap has a first time visor, and both are at the bottom end of the weights. It's a trappy little opener, with marginal preference being for Maidtorun.
