Verdict

An interesting fillies' maiden where a chance is taken on debutant OLDMELDRUM. Ben Haslam is double-handed in the race, with Countess Cheval a potential improver, but the selection has an eyecatching pedigree in the context of this race, being related to a juvenile sprint winner who acted on fast ground. Countering that is the form of the trainer's two-year-olds so far, but she is worth chancing at a likely price. Misscomplacent sets the standard on form and the drop to this stiff 5f may well suit her, while Barefoot Lady is also nicely bred and is unlikely to lack for fitness. This is wide open on paper and Oldmeldrum is a tentative pick.
