In depth

Verdict

This appears to be the weaker of the two divisions and VERTIGO ON COURSE is taken to win it. Richard Fahey's mare is 1lb higher than her last turf start in October, having been stepped up in trip in recent starts on artificial surfaces. The drop back to a mile or so looks a good thing and she goes on fast ground, so we hope she has what it takes today. Rowan Lodge loves it here and has to have claims, though a mile may be a bit sharp for him now, while conversely, Ivestar may not stay. Just Timmy Marcus is worth consideration on jockey bookings alone but Vertigo On Course is selected. (Jonathan Doidge)
