        Verdict

        The final race on the card, a handicap confined to amateur riders, may go to the topweight Zarin, with Our Glenard and Hormuz also fancied to be in the shake-up. Although having to shoulder topweight, Zarin has shown enough on more than one occasion this season to merit respect. David Chapman's five-year-old has been coming slowly down the weights and is finally on what appears to be a winning mark in what is, in all honesty a weak contest. David's granddaughter Ruth takes off a valuable five pounds and that could turn out to be important. Top rider Carol Williams partners Hormuz, a previous course and distance scorer, while Our Glenard has won twice this season. It really is hard to enthuse about the rest, although Doberman at least has a good pilot in Emma Folkes. All in all, bets are best kept to a minimum, with a small investment on Zarin advised.
