      Verdict

      DESERT ACE has won 10 races, including two on this track. He had the favourite Excessable behind when runner-up at Musselburgh last time and, though the latter didn't get the best of runs, the places can be confirmed. Sheepscar Lad is on a long losing run but hasn't been beaten far in his last two races here and must be in with a shout. Archimedes has won 11 times, though mainly at Class 6 level ,while Tan may find the stiff 5f beyond him and the locally-trained Van Gerwen was beaten in a Thirsk seller on Monday. Qaaraat is 1-28 and running poorly though is now on his lowest-ever mark.
